Hello, Rootsquad Friends:
This is National Library Week. We need you more than ever.
This week, please please please. Go to every library that you can.
Check out books, magazines, ebooks, audiobooks, cds, dvds, all the things.
Attend a program. Or two. Or look at a display. Or make a craft.
Hug a librarian or specialist.
Call or email your President, Governor, Mayor, Senator, Congressman, State Representative, County Judge, County Commissioner, City Council, School District Board and anyone else you can think of and tell them that libraries are not optional - they are essential. Ask them to support libraries and museums and reinstate funding for the Institute of Museum and Library Services. This is not political, yall. This is the education of American citizens, all of us. No matter who you are, the library serves you FREE, but the cost of no funding means no jobs and no services.
You don’t have to read the books and be entertained or educated, just check them all out, ok? Please? teehee.
We love you guys. Its why we’re here, not because we’re getting rich serving you people. But we do get to read books for free, too, so there’s that.
And while you’re at it, bring a friend or your kids or your friend’s kids. Chances are, you’ll be the hero of the day.
Even though it costs you nothing, you will get big paybacks in hugs and high fives. Because we’ll be happy to see you!
