GiddyUp Go, the "Ride Along" starts soon
I'm bringing my Rootsquad along to RootsTech this year and I'm sooo excited!
Hi, Rootsquad!
I’m packed and ready to go to RootsTech!!! Even though I’m working Saturday and will not be there until Sunday, my head and my heart are already in Salt Lake City.
You can read on my new site about the RootsTech “Ride Along” - there a whole group of us that will be broadcasting live from in person and at home, and I’ll be joining
Friday evening for a live chat. Join us online or I’ll send out the recording when it posts.Stay tuned, because I might drop in on a new friend’s Live chat on Monday, or be doing a video of my own if something amazing is announced… I will drop a new post with those links as soon as I can. Hear about it here at Rootsquad Roundup first: I have had some hints, but ssshhhhhh…
Classes I’m Looking Forward To
Here’s a short list of the classes I’m attending. These are ones that are in-person only and not recorded, so I will be taking good notes to share later.

“Dig Deep into Offline Sources to Enhance Your Research” by Lisa Stokes
“How Just One Match Can Help You Find Missing Ancestors in 2025” by Diahan Southard

And of course, the Main Sessions with Steve Rockwood and the amazing guest speakers and the “What’s New at Ancestry” talk (always!) with Crista Cowan.
Other activities planned:
Research at Family History Library, Church History Museum, Church History Library, Daughters of Utah Pioneer Memorial Museum, and the Family History Library. Research items requested and reference questions on the ready.
Archivists and Records Custodians Symposium, tour of BYU Center for Family History and Genealogy tour and BYU Library tour, dinner at the Cannon Center.
Expo Hall: Picking up ribbons, checking out new products, meetups with cousins and friends, any and all photo opps, giveaways, vendor talks and finding relatives.
Warm toasted almonds, crafty dirty sodas, and mini-pretzel bites.
Cousin’s Corner - gotta meet up with those Relatives at RootsTech!
GeneaBlogger meetup and photo opp.
Brunch, Lunch and Genealogy Influencers Social and Dinner.
I might even pick up a new genealogy fun t-shirt or jewelry.
And I have heard nothing this year about bracelets or recipe books, but I will see about those fun things when I get there too!
And yes, there is still lots of time for learning, talking and meeting people, don’t worry.
I’m most excited to hear about the advances for using AI for Genealogy and can’t wait for the big product announcements from FamilySearch, Ancestry, MyHeritage, Storied, Vivid-Pix and RootsMagic. Stay tuned and come along for the ride.
We’ll all have fun, roundin’ up our ancestors, whether you are online or in person!
Safe travels! Looking forward to meeting you in person. When we find each other, I have a friendship bracelet for you :-)
